The University of Port Harcourt, under the leadership of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Owunari Georgewill, will today, Thursday, January 16, 2025, hold its 195th Inaugural Lecture at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Centre of Excellence Auditorium, University Park.
The lecture, titled “Power: Predators and Preys,” will be delivered by Professor Fidelis Allen, a distinguished scholar from the Department of Political and Administrative Studies, Faculty of Social Sciences. Professor Allen, who holds a B.Ed from the University of Ibadan, an M.Sc from the University of Port Harcourt, and a Ph.D from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, is set to explore the complex dynamics of power and its societal implications.
This event promises to attract members of the academic community, students, and the general public, offering fresh perspectives on the interplay of power, dominance, and the vulnerabilities of those impacted by it.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Georgewill, has described the inaugural lecture as an important academic tradition that showcases the intellectual achievements of the university’s scholars while addressing relevant societal issues.
