Humbled for a season to receive a name 🙏
It’s another time of the year to commemorate the death of our Lord and Saviour – Jesus Christ.
Good Friday, as it is known, is more than a day marked on a calendar; it is a day with divine significance woven with pain and love, sacrifice and grace.
On this day, history paused as the Son of God was lifted upon a cross—a symbol of agony turned into an altar of redemption.
His outstretched arms on Calvary remain the eternal embrace of a love that knew no bounds. It is a story of the darkest hour giving birth to the brightest dawn.
As we gather our thoughts in contemplation of today, may the echoes of that holy sacrifice stir something profound within us. This should be a renewed sense of purpose, compassion, and unity.
Let the shadow of the cross guide our steps as we build not just a University, but a sanctuary of wisdom, justice, and service.
Let us remember that Good Friday is not the end of the story—it is the seed planted in sorrow that blossoms into resurrection. No matter how long the night, morning will break; no matter how heavy the cross, there is glory beyond the hill.
So as a community, in holy reverence for the day, let us move forward—as one body, one family—with renewed hearts and lifted eyes.
We honour today, not because it is a day, but because of what it signifies. Let the power of love and sacrifice shape our vision, let hope water our dreams, and let our shared labour bloom into a University that not only educates but transforms.
May this Good Friday bring serenity to your soul, strength to your walk, and grace to your homes.
Peace be with you.
Long live the University of Port Harcourt.
Long live our shared purpose.
And may God bless Nigeria abundantly.
