Prof. Mary Paschal Iwundu is a distinguished Professor of Statistics, specializing in Experimental Design. Her educational journey began at Christ the King Primary School in Uyo (1977–1982), followed by Immaculate Conception Secondary School in Itak-Ikono, Akwa Ibom State, where she graduated as a member of the Exquisite Class of 1988. Prof. Iwundu then pursued a Bachelor of Science in Statistics at the University of Uyo, graduating with a Second-Class Upper division in 1994. In 1997, she enrolled in the Master of Science program in Statistics at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, where she earned a perfect 5.0 CGPA in 1999, the highest ever recorded in the Department of Statistics. She later earned a PhD Statistics of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, in 2008.
Prof. Iwundu holds B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. in Statistics, demonstrating expertise in both theoretical and computational aspects of the field. In 2017, Prof. Iwundu was promoted to the rank of Professor of Statistics. Her research interests focus on the Optimal Design of Experiments and their applications in Response Surface Methodology. Over the years, she has supervised many graduate students, including doctoral candidates in both Statistics and Business Management, the latter at Regenesys Business School, Sandton, Johannesburg, South Africa.
She has held numerous academic and administrative positions, including two terms as Head of the Department of Mathematics and Statistics (2012–2016), Post-Graduate Programme Coordinator, and several roles on various committees. Her leadership extends beyond the Department and Faculty, where she has contributed to the university’s governance in positions such as Director of the Information and Communication Technology Centre and Director of the Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer Office (NOTAP).
Prof. Iwundu’s professional development includes certifications in Intellectual Property Law and Leadership of the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Illinois. She participated in a training program on industry-academia collaboration, organized by the Japan Patent Office (JPO), where she earned the title “IP Friend of the Japan Patent Office” and was the only Nigerian participant. In 2023, Prof. Iwundu was recognized as the best-performing Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer Office Coordinator in Nigeria by the National Office for Technology Acquisition and Promotion.
Professor Frank Etin-Osa Bazuaye

Professor Frank Etin-Osa Bazuaye is the son of the Bazuaye Royal Royal family of the Benin kingdom (the Igodomigodo) of Edo State. He is a Professor of Applied Mathematics (Numerical Analysis). Attended Salvation Army Primary school, Okefia, Oshogbo, Osun state and obtained First School Leaving Certificate Examinations.
Proceeded to Laro Grammar School Oshogbo. Later completed his Secondary Education at Edo Boys High school, formally Adolo College, Benin City, where he obtained his SSCE. In 1993, he gained admission into the famous Edo State College of Education, Benin City where he obtained his NCE (Hons) in Mathematics and Physics in 1996. Got admission to the University of Benin and graduated with B.Sc (Industrial Mathematics). Obtained Master’s Degree in Industrial Mathematics specializing in Numerical Analysis. He also obtained Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in Mathematics specializing in Numerical Analysis. He also obtained advanced diploma in Computer Science.
He lectured at Federal College of Education. Okene, Kogi State, during the N.Y.S.C. He was also seconded to College of Education Ekiadolor by the Federal Government. In 2002, he was appointed a lecturer in Benson Idahosa University, Benin City. At BIU, the he served in different capacities. These include: Examination officer, member of solar energy Committee, member Admission Board. He was also the Co-ordinator of part time programme, department of Mathematics and Computer science, The Coordinator of Mathematics Programme, a member of Senate, Benson Idahosa University, Benin City. On his assumption of duty in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, University of Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria, he has served as the Coordinator of Entrepreneurship Study, chairman department accreditation committee, etc. He is currently the Head of Depatment of Mathematics and Statistics, University of Port Hracourt. Has over fifty publications in ranked University and Professional journals. Had successfully supervised ten Postgraduate students in Numerical Analysis. Have presented papers at both Local and International conferences including the American Mathematical Society (AMS) conference held in November, 2014 at University of North Carolina at Greensboro, Greensboro; First Computational Intelligence for societal Development in Developing Country conference held in February 2017, at Sheffield Hallam University, United Kingdom.NC. Have also published two other books in Mathematics.
Prof. Frank Etin-Osa Bazuaye is also a member of NUC adhoc accreditation team to some Nigerian Universities and a cadet registrar FRSC sector R.S 8.3.

Dr. Ukamaka Cynthia Orumie

Dr. Ukamaka Cynthia Orumie, was born on 26/11/1979. She attended G.S.S, Owerre-Eze Orba, in Nsukka where she obtained her S.S.C.E Certificate in 1997 and proceeded to UNN in 1999, and obtained B.Sc Statistics (2nd Class Honors, Upper Division) in 2003, M.Sc (Statistics) in 2007 in the same University, and Ph.D Statistics (Operations Research) in 2014 at UNIPORT. She functioned as a lecturer at Fed. Tech. College Ede, Osun State during her N.Y.S.C programme. She joined the services of UNIPORT on 24th July 2008 as an Assistant Lecturer on a temporary Appointment in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics. She received her promotions to the post of Senior Lecturer in 2014. She has taught several undergraduate and postgraduate courses. She has successfully carried out all of the duties that the university community assigned to her such as Faculty of Science Ph.D Seminar Committee member, Departmental Accreditation Committee Secretary, Departmental Welfare Committee Chairman, Faculty of Science Welfare Committee member, Department of Mathematics and Statistics Post Graduate (PG) Coordinator, Department of Mathematics and Statistics exam malpractice committee chairman, Students Staff Adviser, Department of Mathematics and Statistics, University of Port Harcourt. Dr. Uchenna Petronilla Ogoke is currently an Associate Professor of Statistics at the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, Faculty of Science, University of Port Harcourt with research interest in Biostatistics. Since her employment in the University since 2011 as an Assistant Lecturer, Dr. Ogoke has been climbing the rungs of academic ladder.
She has published widely in reputable journals with over 50 publications. She is well travelled and has attended many conferences and workshops both nationally and internationally where she made presentations and part of her paper presentation won an international award in Florence, Italy in 2014 to represent the African Continent. She has taught and supervised many Undergraduate and Post graduate students. She is the Course Coordinator in Biostatistics, African Centre of Excellence in Public Health and Toxicological Research (ACE -PUTOR), Uniport.
She belongs to several professional bodies viz: Chattered Institute of Statisticians of Nigeria (CISON), International Statistical Institute (ISI), International Biometric Society (IBS) Washington DC USA, Organization of women in science for developing world (OWSD). Dr Ogoke is a consultant in disease modelling in R and Spatial Statistics. Part of her interest is conducting research and presently, she is the Team lead in her groundbreaking research funded by Tetfund National Research Fund (NRF) for 2024 Cohort. She is a Fellow of the Chattered Institute of Statisticians of Nigeria (FCISON) and Nigerian Mathematical Modelling of Malaria (FNMM), 2024 Cohort, funded by Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. As part of her community service, she is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of UchPet Educational Foundation addressing youth empowerment through formal/informal Education, entrepreneurship and skills acquisition, etc. She enjoys reading, research and travelling.
Ethelbert Chinaka Nduka

Professor Ethelbert Chinaka Nduka has been a Professor of Statistics since 2005 at the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, Faculty of Science, University of Port Harcourt with research interest in Biometrics. He has published widely in reputable journals. He has also authored a high-profile Text in Regression and Correlation Analyses which is widely used by practitioners. He has travelled widely and has attended many conferences, training workshops and leadership courses in higher education. He has also held a number of academic and administrative positions at various times viz: Head of Department, Dean of Science, Deputy Vice Chancellor Administration and Representative Council of International Biometric Society, Washington, DC, USA. He has supervised several undergraduates and post graduate students, some of whom are Professors. He has been an editor to several reputable journals. Prof Nduka has also been an External Examiner and Professorial Assessor to many Nigerian Universities and beyond, Member/Chairman NUC Accreditation Panels, etc. He is a Fellow of the Chattered Institute of Statisticians of Nigeria (FCISON) and the pioneer Provost College of Fellows, CISON. He has delivered several public lectures, received several honours and merit awards. In recognition of his drive for human capital and community development, a traditional chieftaincy title was conferred on him by his traditional ruler. He enjoys reading (biographies, current affairs and philosophy), listening to country/classical music.
Dr. ALEX MUSA
Alex Musa is the son of Augustine Musa, the late Retired Superintendent of Police, from Eguare-Ewu in Esan Central Local Government Area of Edo State.
Alex is a Senior Lecturer in Applied Mathematics (PhD Fluid Mechanics). Attended Eguare Primary School Ewu, where the First School Leaving Certificate was obtained in (1982). He then proceeded to Ewu Grammar School, but later completed the secondary education at Eguare Secondary School, Ekpoma where the West African School Certifate ‘O’ Level was obtained in 1987. Between 1988 and 1992, was in Delta State University, Abraka, where a BSc (Ed) in mathematics was obtained. He observed the National Service (NYSC) in 1993in Rivers State. After the National Service, got engaged to teaching in a private Secondary School.
By 2004 went back to the University for a Masters Degree, where MSc in Applied Mathematics was obtained in 2006. However, during this time, was employed to the services of the University of Port Harcourt Demonstration Secondary School, where he was a tutor of both mathematics and further mathematics till early 2010. By March 2010, he was formally absorbed as a full lecturer in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics. Between 2010 and 2015, he undertook a doctoral programe, where he acquired the PhD degree in Applied Mathematics. As a lecturer in Mathematics, he has been fully involved in the teaching, carrying out of researches in mathematics and supervision of undergraduates, Post Graduates (Diplomas, M.Sc PhD). He is at present the departmental representative in the Community Service Unit of the University.

Professor Maxwell Azubuike Ijomah is a distinguished scholar in Statistics and Econometrics at the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria. With a career spanning over two decades, he has made significant contributions to the advancement of statistical methodologies and their applications in economic modeling, financial analysis, and policy evaluation. His research interests include robust statistical methods, high- dimensional data analysis, financial statistics, biostatistics and stochastic modeling of financial markets. He is involved in developing statistical methods that provide a consistent formulation between the statistical modelling and biological nature, understand and solve the problem of unreliable estimates in analysing high dimensional structured data and tackle the challenges posed by the high level of stochastic disturbance in modelling generally.
