ANGELA NKECHI UGWU

Angela Nkechi Ugwu is a Professor of Adult Education and Community Development and has taught for 18 years in the Department of Adult & Non-Formal Education, Faculty of Education, University of Port Harcourt.  She hails from Nsukka in Nsukka Local Government Area of Enugu State. She holds Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) Degree in Adult Education/Igbo Linguistics and Master of Education (M.Ed) Degree in Adult Education/Community Development. Both degrees were obtained by her from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN).  She has a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in Adult Education/Community Development from University of Port Harcourt.

She has taught courses on different areas of Adult Education and Community Development at undergraduate and post graduate levels and supervised projects, thesis and dissertations respectively.  She has assessed about 10 candidates for professorial promotion and served as external examiner in three universities.

Prof. A.N. Ugwu has published over 45 articles in reputable local and international journals and chapters in a number of books.  Her areas of research interest include adult education, community development, peace building and conflict issues, gender issues and cooperative management.  She is also a trainer in Peoples Management and Organizational Development and belongs to many professional associations.  She is married with children.

Professor Caroline Lewechi Eheazu Lectures in the Department of Adult and Non-Formal Education, University of Port Harcourt and is currently the Associate Dean of the Faculty of Education. She specializes in Environmental Literacy and Adult Education and has special interests in the areas of Environmental Sustainability, Climate Change and Andragogy. Prof. Eheazu has published several widely cited articles in reputable national and international academic Journals as well as chapters in mainline refereed books in her areas of interest and other cognate disciplines. She has also supervised an appreciable number of Master’s Dissertations and Ph.D. Theses and serves as editor to well-recognized national and international Journals.  Prof, Eheazu is an ardent believer in   the Talloires Declaration that Universities have a major role to play in the inculcation of Environmental Literacy as they deal with would-be adult members of society who, with their higher education studies, are expected to effectively champion solution of national and global environmental problems. Accordingly, she has conducted several studies on this important aspect of environmental education. Prof. Eheazu is a member of recognized professional and academic organizations related to her area of specialization.


Prof. John M. Patrick

Patrick, John Mordecaih is a Professor of Adult Learning and Community Development in the Department of Adult and Non-Formal Education University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria. He holds a B.Ed degree in Political Science/Education from the University of Ibadan, MPA from University of Calabar, M.Ed and Ph.D in Adult Education/Community Development from the University of Port Harcourt. He is an Associate Member of Charted Institute of Local Government and Public Administration of Nigeria; a member of several professional organisations which includes Nigerian National Council for Adult Education (NNCAE), Association for Sustainable Development and Communities Integration of Nigeria (ASDCIN), International Association for Community Development (IACD), Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN), European Centre for Research Training and Development UK, and International Council for Adult Education. He had served as an Assistant National Secretary of NNCAE and is currently the National Secretary of ASDCIN. He has published over 65 journal articles and 15 book chapters. His research interest includes Community Development, Intercultural and Intergenerational Learning, Literacy, Adult Learning and Educational Gerontology (Older Adult Learning) and Open and Distance Learning. He had served as Associated Editor of two national journals and an Instructional Facilitator in National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN).


PROFESSOR Ganiyu ADEKOLA

Ganiyu ADEKOLA is a Professor of Adult Education with specialization in Community Development in the Department of Adult and Non-Formal Education, University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria. He joined the University of Port Harcourt in 2005 and attained the rank full Professor in 2018. His Post Graduate Degrees were all gotten from the University of Ibadan. He is an expert in Adult Education with research interest in Community Development, Environmental Adult Education and Material Development in Adult Education. Adekola has supervised 12 Ph.D Theses and currently handling another 3. He has to his credit 6 Books, 15 Book Chapters and 80 Publications in national and international peer reviewed journals.
