Prof. Ibisime Etela is a registered animal scientist (RAS) and a founding member of the Regional Centre of Expertise Port Harcourt (RCE Port Harcourt), which was acknowledged by the United Nations University – Institute for the Advanced Study of Sustainability (UNU-IAS), Tokyo, Japan in June 2015. He was Research Advisor to the Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Limited (Shell-Nigeria) from January to December 2015. He joined the University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria (UniPort) as Lecturer I (2005), became Senior Lecturer (2008), Associate Professor (2012), and Professor (2016). He was Community Liaison Officer (CLO) with Shell-Nigeria (2002-2005), Research Fellow with the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI), Ibadan (1998-2000), and Graduate Research Assistant with ILRI (1996-1997). Prof. Etela teaches both undergraduate and postgraduate level courses including modules on research methods and proposal report writing. He has experience in project planning and management, quality assurance and quality control, project monitoring, evaluation and learning (ME&L), and strategic procurement. He is the Publicity Secretary, Association of Deans of Agriculture in Nigeria Universities (ADAN; 2021-date), Director of Research, Agricultural Policy Research Network (APRNet; 2022-date), and Steering Committee member of the World Bank-funded Africa Centre of Excellence in Oilfield Chemicals Research (ACE-CEFOR), UniPort (2014-date). He was two-term Dean, Faculty of Agriculture, UniPort (2020-2024), Member representing West Africa on the Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture (RUFORUM) Sub-Committee of Deans and Principals (2023-2024), Dean representing South-South Zone in the 5th Governing Council of the Nigerian Institute of Animal Science (NIAS: 2021-2024), and Member, Development Committee of the 16th Governing Council, UniPort (2021-2023). Other administrative experience include, being Director, Institute of Agricultural Research and Development, UniPort (2012-2014), and Head, Department of Animal Science and Fisheries, UniPort (2010-2012).
Ibisime holds a doctorate (2006) degree in Animal Science from the University of Benin, Nigeria, as well as master’s (1999) and bachelor’s (1992) degrees from the Rivers State University of Science and Technology (RSUST) now Rivers State University (RSU), Nigeria. His academic honours and awards include receiving the Mastercard Foundation TAGDev Program grant in 2024, EU-Erasmus Mundus CREATE GreenAfrica grant in 2023, TETFund NRF grant led by UNIBEN in 2022, PASET-RSIF-ICBD grant in 2020, PASET-RSIF grant in 2019, AAU Senior Executive Attachment Grant for Technology Uptake in 2015, DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) part-funding for training on Internal Quality Assurance of Higher Education Institution in Anglophone West Africa from 2014-2016; IFS First Research Grant in 2008 and the prestigious ACU Titular Fellowship to the University of Manitoba (Canada) in 2007. He is a visiting lecturer to several institutes and centres in UniPort, and external examiner for graduate programmes and external assessor for professorial assessment to some public and private universities in Nigeria and Ghana. Prof. Etela has supervised 8 doctoral (5 completed; 3 ongoing), over 3 master’s and over 22 bachelor’s projects. He has published 52 journal articles, 5 book chapters, over 25 conference papers, and has attended and presented invited papers at different national and international agricultural and agribusiness forums, seminars and workshops. Ibisime is a fellow of the Society of Agriculture, Environmental Resources and Management (SAEREM). Boma Victor Iriso

Boma Victor Iriso is a Lecturer in the Department of Animal Science, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Port Harcourt and a Registered Animal Scientist (RAS). Iriso holds a Bachelor of Agriculture degree (Animal Science) from the University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria and a Master’s degree in Animal Science from Ahmadu Bello University, Nigeria, majoring in ruminant nutrition and production with special interest in animal welfare, climate change, improving forage quality and conservation, evaluating the impact of forage attributes on the performance of ruminants and safety of animal products. Iriso’s academic honours and awards include receiving the prestigious Climate Food and Farming Global Research Alliance Scholarship (CLIFF-GRADS) Grant in 2020, University of Port Harcourt Graduate Studies Scholarship Award in 2019 and NNPC/Belemaoil JV Post Graduate Scholarship Award in 2019. Iriso is an African Climate Ambassador and member: Animal Science Association of Nigeria, Nigerian Institute of Animal Science (NIAS), Animal Welfare Research Network (United Kingdom), Universities Federation for Animal Welfare (UFAW Link, UNIPORT), Institute of Safety Professionals of Nigeria (ISPON) and Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered). Iriso has published several journal articles, conference papers, and has attended different national and international agricultural seminars and workshops.
Anthonia Ijeoma Ukanwoko

Anthonia Ijeoma Ukanwoko is a full Professor of Ruminant Production and Management (Dairy Science) and the current Head of Department of Animal Science, Faculty of Agriculture. She taught in Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, Abia State, Nigeria from 2005 – 2011 and University of Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria from 2011 till date with over 19 years teaching experience. She has a lot of skills in greener ruminant production and management, pasture and range management, silage production, hydroponic production for ruminants etc. She has published a lot of peer reviewed papers (over 60) locally and internationally. She has successfully supervised over 50 projects, co – supervised 1 Postgraduate Diploma project, 3 Masters of Science dissertations, 3 ongoing Masters of Science dissertations and 5 ongoing Ph.D Theses. She is a Registered Animal Scientist (RAS) (RAS 00718). She belongs to different professional bodies like Animal Science Association of Nigeria (ASAN), Nigerian Society for Animal Production (NSAP), Society for Grassland and Development in Nigeria (SOGREDEN), Nigerian Institute of Animal Science (NIAS) and Organization of Women in Science for Developing World (OWSD). She gave the No.4 Vice Chancellor’s Community Lecture Series titled ‘Ranching in a forested zone: Prospects, challenges and the role of the University.’

Ere-Richard Abigail Adamma also known as Igbokwe Abigail Adamma (maiden name) obtained her Bachelor of Agriculture Degree in Animal Science (1st Class Honors) from the University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria, in 2014. She subsequently acquired her Master of Agriculture Degree in Animal Physiology (Distinction) from the University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Nigeria, in 2018.
She currently works as a Lecturer in the Department of Animal Science, University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria. Inspired by her master’s degree research in cryobiology, her major research interests are in Animal Reproductive Physiology, Nutrition Physiology, and other closely related fields.
Her long-term academic goal is to make significant contributions to the attainment of the Sustainable Development Goals 2 (Zero hunger), 3 (Good health and well-being), 9 (Industry Innovation and Infrastructure), 12 (Responsible consumption and production), 15 (Life on land) and 17 (partnership for the goals) through her involvement cutting-edge research.
She is currently carrying out her doctoral studies in the University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria and open to national and international collaborations.

Prof Opuda Alioma Ekine, holds a Doctorate (PhD) and Master of Science (MSc) degrees in Animal Science from the Rivers State University (RSU), Nkpolu, Port Harcourt, Nigeria, specializing in Animal Nutrition Physiology & Production. OA. Ekine is a Professor in the Department of Animal Science, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Port Harcourt, Choba, Nigeria and has a lot of teaching, research, and agricultural development experience. His main research focus is Nutrition Physiology, with special interest in the utilization of efficacious herbal supplements for both prophylactic and therapeutic purposes, by using different combinations of phytogenic herbal supplements, and utilization of industrial waste and other non-conventional feedstuffs in the formulation of diets for non-ruminants.He has held several administrative positions, amongst which are; Head of Department of Animal Science, Assistant Director (GES), Chairman of several committees and Past-President of Rotary Club of Choba Uniport.
